Life in TN
Not a lot going on these days, but I thought I’d give ya’ll an update anyway.
Nick has been busy working, as always. He’s been lucky lately and has had a lot fewer late-nights, which is very nice. He’s also recently gotten really interested in playing pool — he’s been looking up all sorts of tips and tricks on the Internet. He and his buddies from work go out on Sunday nights to play and he usually does pretty well, I guess!
Work has been keeping me busy as well. This is an especially busy time of year for me (January through late-May or June). I’m looking forward to summertime and hopefully getting to use some of the comp-time I’ve racked to do some traveling. I’m hoping maybe we can make it out to Gatlinburg this year. I think Nick would enjoy it and I haven’t been out there since I was a kid.
We also recently managed to get tickets to go see Eddie Izzard here in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium on June 20th. We’re both ridiculously excited. If you haven’t seen him before, go rent a copy of “Dressed to Kill” which was an HBO stand-up special he did a few years ago. He is hilarious. We have all his DVDs that have been released in the US and have watched them over and over, so I can’t believe we’re actually going to get the opportunity to see him live!
Anyway, I guess that’s all the news (see, I told ya there’s not much going on - haha).

Life in TN
We made it to the new apartment. You wouldn’t think that moving from one end of an apartment building to the other would be that hard — but let me tell you, when you’re not prepared and have to move on such short notice, it’s a nightmare.
Thankfully we had wonderful friends and family to help us. Nick’s dad dropped everything and drove down to help all weekend. We could never have done it without him. Our friends Erica and Alan were here every day packing, lifting, and cleaning. I feel so blessed to have such amazing friends.
I can’t speak for Nick, but being in the new place has really taken a weight off me. I feel like it’s a fresh start. Our neighbor at the old place was such a problem that I’d actually gotten really uncomfortable about going in and out of our apartment, for fear I’d bump into her. No more of that! And it’s great because the dog and cat can run around and play without fearing that they are banging on the floor and disturbing a downstairs neighbor. I think we’re going to be very happy in the new place.
Needless to say, everyone is exhausted. I’m back to work today but Nick and his dad are finishing up the last few things and will turn in the keys to the old place early this afternoon. *Whew!*
Next is the “fun” part — unpacking and sorting everything. I have mountains of laundry to do. But it’s a good excuse to do spring-cleaning!

Life in TN
So guess what? We’re moving.
Where are we moving? Across the parking lot to the opposite end of the same apartment building.
Seriously.
We’ve had nothing but headaches with our downstairs neighbor. She’s keyed my car. She’s threatened to sue the apartment complex because she thinks Nick’s Jeep’s front bumper is hazardous, and she complains constantly that we “drop things on purpose” to be noisy and disturb her. Basically… she’s a psycho.
We finally had enough of it and when we noticed that the apartment on the opposite end of our building was empty and available to rent, we decided to ask about switching. It’s the identical layout to our apartment, but the mirror-image. It’s also the downstairs unit, so we’ll be losing our vaulted ceilings and skylight — but after living in our apartment for over a year, I won’t miss them. They’re a nightmare to heat and cool. Plus with being on a bottom floor, the dog and cat will be able to run around and play without worry that we’ll disturb the downstairs neighbor.
The fun part? We may start moving as soon as tonight. I’m not joking. When Nick talked to them earlier, he suggested that we could move Monday and Tuesday (his days off) but we’re going to see if we can start moving over the weekend and take a few extra days, being that it’s just the two of us and the apartment has been sitting empty for a couple weeks anyway. I hope it works out that way.
I’m dreading the thought of moving all our stuff … we have a LOT of stuff … a lot of HEAVY stuff. But at least we’re only moving it across the parking lot. I’m sure we’ll go rent a dolly of some sort to make it a bit easier.
The other thing I’m dreading is having to change our apartment number on all of our utilities, magazine subscriptions, etc. UGH. And I know it will get screwed up, because the apartment number will only be two numbers less than our current number — so I’m sure when I send the places address change info, they’ll glance at it and think it’s the same. Ugh. I’m thinking gratuitous use of a highlighter is in order.
Anyway, if anyone needs/wants our new address … let me know!

Life in TN
I had to post this because I know our family residing in Pennsylvania (particularly Erie) will find this humorous.
Pretty much all the schools in middle and eastern Tennessee are closed today for this:
Nick’s Conquest covered in snow

I’d started cleaning the snow off the Element so I could drive to work.

Our apartment building, surrounded by snow.
I had the quickest commute to work ever this morning. Everyone must have been staying home with their children who were off school, or they were flat out too scared to drive in this “treacherous” weather. The roads were just fine though. The only ice I hit was actually on the sidewalk right outside our apartment door, where I almost fell flat on my bum!
